The Northwest Edvard Grieg Society is thrilled to present Ingrid Eliassen, trumpet and Ekaterina Isayevskaya, piano in a special concert exploring Norwegian repertoire for trumpet and piano, including arrangements of our beloved Edvard Grieg. The program, which they will be performing throughout the Pacific Northwest, will combine familiar favorites as well as rarely heard works, including a premier performance of Alexander Aarøen Pedersen’s Trompetmeditasjon, which was commissioned for this tour.
The concert will also feature works by Kjetil Hvoslef, Torstein Aagard-Nilsen, Rolf Wallin, Ketil Vea, and Wolfgang Plagge as well as Norwegian folk tunes and arrangements for trumpet and piano of Edvard Grieg. Both artists perform, teach and live in Tromsø, Norway, far above the Arctic Circle, and home of the Northern Lights in winter and Midnight Sun in summer.
As Grieg brought Norwegian music to the rest of the world, we are pleased to follow his lead in bringing rarely heard music from Norwegian composers to our audiences in Seattle, with the added experience of Norwegian performers from Tromsø, Norway.
Velkommen!
